Boo!

I can’t remember the last time I decorated for Hallowe’en. The original idea was to have something “spewing” out of the mail slot, something like blood, but I couldn’t figure out a way to make it look real. So I gave up on that idea and moved on to wanting the mail slot to be some kind of mouth. And so the Nintendo part of my brain took over.

You can see in the first picture that the white cardboard (came from the box for my clock) didn’t really work, proportional wise. So I dug into my poster board supply for something bigger. If I’m going to do this, might as well do it right. All the coloured parts of Boo are cut from foam paper.

It’s quite a coincidence that Boo fits our living room colour scheme. Good thing, because we don’t think Boo can brave the elements outside so he’ll be hanging out on the inside of the door for Hallowe’en in the living room area. I like metal doors, the metal part makes mounting decorations clean and easy: magnets.

Materials: Poster paper, foam paper, commercial fridge magnets with double-sided tape

    Fridge magnets – brilliant! Boo!

    How can you make it glow now? I’m so sad that we are missing any trace of Halloween. No one celebrates it hear; meaning no one makes stuff like you to have fun at the end of October! No fun!

    Hmm, glow… We have these: http://www.joissu.com/prodinfo.asp?number=38-220

    You’re supposed to use them for raving or “night blogging” — but seriously, I think the latter is made up. Isn’t night blogging just writing at night? :|

    At first, I thought you made this in 1 minute and 45 seconds. You didn’t, right?

  5. Ting Says:

    @Bryan hehe, if only. No it was 1 hour 45 mins.

    @Eric I’ve never celebrated Hallowe’en til I moved to Vancouver. I wonder if it’s just a North American thing?

    @Pearle this post was night-blogged!
